Chris Horn was nice enough to send me pictures of a b20 with AC installed. On the b20 block there are bolt holes for the bracket on the timing case portion of the block.

How was AC attached to the earlier b18 engines? I'm going to fabricate a bracket that uses the motor mount, timing cover bolts and the bolt on the front of the head for mounting points. I was just curious how the factory Kit was installed.

I'm using a sanden 508 compressor, so I am hoping that the bracket does not have to be as beefy as the one for the Old York compressor.

I have a bracket--the type that held the York compressor--it attaches to some of the timing case cover bolts. I don't know if I have the brace pieces but it may give you something to work with----$10 + postage. Write me at----fastforwardphoto(AT)yahoo(DOT)com----Dave

So it attaches to the small bolts on the timing case cover?

Did you ever get this sorted out? I'd like to do something similar and want to know how to best mount a small sanden.

I did eventually come up with a bracket that has worked well. Since it is an early b18. There are not many places to attach, I wound up attaching to one of the thermostat housing bolts, a bolt in the front of the head and a brace that goes to the back of the engine and attaches using the starter motor bolt.

Bob Foltz at bobfv1800@aol.com makes AC brackets for both b18 and b20

B18s require 2 brackets, 1 for the compressor and 1 for the tension pulley.

Original used a York compressor which vibrates and is also inefficient.

There is a new B18 kit that has both brackets for mounting a Sanden.
