Shop Recommendation - Humboldt County, California 200

Greetings Fellow Volvo Enthusiasts,

I will soon be moving to Trinidad, California and was wondering if anyone could offer a recommendation on a good independent shop in this area.

I am looking to develop a good relationship with a trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanic who can perform routine service and larger jobs on my 1989 245.

Thank you --

I live in Arcata. I worked for Napa auto parts in town here and delivered parts, then worked their counter for a few months.

I'll try to think if there are any places that stood out as good. I know one guy in McKinleyville. He is reputable and good at heavy work, but instead of telling me my throttle body was dirty or adjusting the idle stop screw, he bent my throttle stop itself... O.o Still a cool guy and I'd let him work on less delicate things.

I know of the place in Blue Lake. I've never stopped by or heard anything specific, just driven past and asked if other people knew what it was.

Cheers!

Hello,

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I'm glad to know there are other Brickboarders in my new county.

I'm looking forward to being closer to iPD's annual garage sale event!

Regards,
Brandice

I heard of one near the casino in Blue Lake. I was only there once. It has been a few years but as I remember His whole family seemed very knowlegable about the systems and models sold through out the years.

As I think on it more he is very near that exit up on a little hill from the main highways exit.

He does a lot of service work for the locals but favors Volvo as his speciality. He gets Bosch parts at a decent price and keeps the decent in there when reselling.

If you ask around in that area or ask some local dismantlers they can give you better directions. You will have to feel him out for yourself if he can fill your needs.

Phil
