240 turns over but sometimes fails to start 200 1991

In about 1 of every 50 attempts to start my '91 240, it will turn over but fail to start. By waiting 5-10 minutes it will start on 1st try. The car has 132K miles.

Have you changed either the Fuel System Relay, located behind the glove box or the Crank Position Sensor, located behind the head on the engine and the firewall inside the engine compartment area?

Does your car have a tachometer? If so, when the car doesn't start, does the tach bounce when turning it over?

Does this happen when the engine is warm or cold? Or does it make a difference?

Steve, thanks for responding. So far it has happened only when warm. Bought it 9 months ago. Have probably started it 300-400 times, and the problem has only occurred 5 or 6 times.

Try a new coat of thermal heat sink paste on the back of the ignition amplifier / power stage mounted on the heat sink near the battery. If that doesn't do it get a known good new "used" one on ebay.
