Duett Tire Size 444-544

Ive seen a lot of discussion about tire size for our various cars. Mine is a 67 Duett currently with 185x15 tires on 5 1/2" widened wheels.

Well, the tires are old, but not worn yet. I have decided to replace them and I'm thinking about 205/65x15 as the more readily available (and more reasonably priced) size.

Any comments or support for this size tire?

Thanks
Bob

This will work as long as you have body clearance but the diameter is a little smaller. When your speedo says 60 you'll be doing 57.4mph so good for keeping you legal. The front suspension needs to be in top condition to keep up with big and heavy wheel/tyre combinations. Can get pretty marginal with 165's on the standard rims. It's an OLD system and even when new a total grease up every 1000 miles was scheduled. The tiny King pins need all the help they can get.

The rule of thumb is for every 1 inch in tire height increase your rpms drop by 200. My 544 has 185x60s on 15x6 mags that just barely fit there, but with such a wide footprint the ride is noticeably harsher.
