90-240 steering pump 0-ring?

O-ring included with rebuilt steering pump. Im just not sure where it goes. I didnt notice an O-ring during disassembly. Perhaps fell into the engine compartment, but I didnt see it.
Where does the O-ring go? Or does it?.

Thanks

Larue

90-240 steering pump 0-ring?

Note that came with pump says the O-ring needs to be installed on pump. But I dont remember taking an o-ring off. Is it possible this part fits a car with a different set up that needs an o-ring but my car does not?
If someone has done this job recently, please get back to me, if you know the answer this. Everything else is in place to finish this job, I just need to install pressure hose and bleed, but Im kinda stuck on this point and not sure how this goes.

Thanks.

Larue

Apparently, o-ring not needed on my 90-240

If your steering pump has a flare fitting, then you dont need and o-ring.
perhaps the oring is for another application.
There is no leaking at the pump. What I thought was a leak was apparently fluid that had been spilled in R&R process. Also, the chattering went away.

Anybody care to offer insight into the weight that originally sits on the pressure hose. Mine had slid down near the steering gear, and I put it into its proper place. Not sure what difference that made.

Thank you.

Larue
