On my 1995 940 my mirror glass fell off! Just the plain glass became detached from the plastic backing. Maybe that's called a back plate or something. Anyway, I'd like to just stick on new glass without fooling around with taking off the plastic plate because I'm worried that I'll just break the plastic and create a big mess. But anyway, I see that some mirrors are said to be heated. I'm guessing that there is an element in the back plate (?) and that it is really just the plate that is heated. Anyway, by looking on ebay I see that some complete assemblies are sold as 'not defrost'. So my question is: if mine is currently not heated (and I don't care about that feature anyway) can I just buy either kind off ebay and then use whatever parts I get to fix mine. Also, if I happen to buy a full assembly, can I remove the glass from that one and stick it on mine (or is unlikely that I would be able to remove the glass in this way?). Also can I shop for other models like the 740 or others and it will fit my 940 (keeping in mind that it is only the glass I'm really interested in). Lastly, if mine were heated were there be a visible switch for that inside the car. Thanks.
