dies out at a stop or when going from fwrd to rev but starts right back up,seems not to do it as much after its run for a while,runs good mpg 20 city-25 hwy.

mostly everything in this thread applies to your car. how long has it been since a tuneup? plugs, wires, distrib cap, rotor,

fuel system relay, crank position sensor, ignition amplifier (power stage) are all likely culprits.

More info would be helpful - parts recently replaced, brief history of the problem, number of miles etc...

A wild guess would be ignition wires. How old are they? Is the problem worse when it's wet? It is most likely something electrical, probably ignition related.
