Flashing transmission mode indicators 900 1997

Well, the starting problem went away for a couple of weeks, but this morning it was back, and now the transmission mode indicators are flashing between (W) and (E) with the key in run. Is this an indicator of the Park Neutral safety being faulty?

    I did this DIY repair without too much trouble. I recommend getting the OEM PNP part if you are able to.
