the mirror on the driverside rear view has parted company with its housing. what adhesive should i use to stick this thing back on?

    Congratulations, that the mirror did not really part company. Call it a temporary disassociation.

    I used automotive RTV since it is a little tougher than the regular door and window RTV. Although RTV has a low tensile strength, in a 24 square inch surface area of the mirror, it is very strong. I have used this on two 940 mirrors and one has lasted about six years so far. Make sure you have a little pressure on the mirror until the RTV sets and hardens. I still check mirror and corner lens stability from time to time.

    3M trim contact adhesive would also work.
