Crank shaft timing marks 900 1992

On my 92 960 straight six where are the timing marks for the crank i am going to put a new belt and water pump on to see if the car will run.

    If i align the marks how do i know what turn of the crank to put it on.

      I don't have a 960, but have changed a belt on the 850 (5 cylinder version). Since you don't have a belt on there, you simply line up all the marks on the relevant pulley's. That is, the crank mark (look for teeny weeny notch in inside edge of crank sprocket if you have not pulled harmonic balancer) and both cam pulleys (probably have to use timing cover to line up marks). The crank mark is really just a little notch that is incredibly hard to see (based on my 5 banger). Feed belt on from crank to intake then exhaust cam an route around idler pulleys. My experience says the exhaust cam will have rotated. Also read the FAQ, like suggested before me, and take your time. Good luck. Mike
