940 headlight damage- which parts do I need 900 1993

Hi,
My 93 940 wagon without fog lamps got backed into lightly. The headlight was slightly pushed in by the spare tire on the back of the SUV. Without disassembling, it looks like the only damage is to the adjusters. The light looks ok and the mounting bracket looks ok but I haven't dug into it yet. I'm trying to figure out what parts to get. Do the adjusters normally come with the mounting bracket, the light or are they a separate item? I don't see them on the light or bracket in pictures on sites like FCP.
I suspect I am probably best off just getting the whole assembly and then I will have everything. Haven't seen any used ones on ebay for a few days, any recommendations for aftermarket?
Thanks!
Lyle

    Dear Irisius,

Hope you're well. The adjusters - for height and width - are available as separate parts. I'd guess these are "dealer only" items. You should also be able to get them at a salvage yard, as they're not likely to be damaged except in a front-end collision. Even if the headlamp unit has been removed, the adjusters should still be present.

Complete frames are available, at about $170 MSRP. I do not know if the "complete frame" includes the adjusters. The adjusters are each about $20-25 MSRP.

The part numbers (for '93 940 with fog lights next to the grille):
    (a) Right-hand 1392730 [vertical] / 1392731 [horizontal] / 1392715 [complete frame]
    (b) Left-hand: 1392716 [vertical] / 1392717 [horizontal] / 1392714 [complete frame].

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

940 headlight damage- which parts do I need 900 1993

      Dear Irisius,

Hope you're well. I mis-read your post, and so provided part numbers for a car that has foglights next to the grille.

For a '93 940, without foglights next to the grille, the part numbers are:
      (a) Right-hand: 3532401 [vertical] / 3532402 [horizontal] / 3534200 [complete frame]
      (b) Left-hand: 3532401 [vertical] / 3532402 [horizontal] / 3534199 [complete frame].

The price (MSRP) of a complete frame is $75. Each adjuster should cost about $10.

I regret the errors and hope there's been no inconvenience.

      Yours faithfully,

The adjusters are plastic and easily break when trying to disassemble. In the OP's case I'd bet the screw part is ok but the 'nut' part is stripped so the adjuster is just pushed through the 'nut' and new ones won't work.

I have good used headlights complete with mount for sale if the OP is interested, far easier/cheaper/faster.

Thanks for the parts 900 1993

          Hi Jerry,
Got the parts I bought from you installed and they look great. I appreciate you finding me the nice used parts. It's nice to have the car back together.

not having delved into my 940 headlight assemblies yet, could the plastic nuts be replaced with "jesus clips" or whatever you call the sheet metal clip on captive nuts? Alternatively, epoxy a real nut into the correct location?

Like i said, never seen the adjuster assembly so I may be way off but both methods have been used by yours truly on domestic beaters and old motorcycles.

Nah, the 'nut' part is part of the adjuster assembly buried in the light housing, and is keyed to the vertical knobs which turn the screw part.
I suppose some sort of make-do could be invented, but it'd take significant time and yield poor results compared to replacement I think.

That seems exactly like what happened. The adjuster threaded shafts look to be pushed back in and the nuts are no where to be seen. I emailed you about a used unit.
          Thanks!
