Sound Insulation fell out in Standard Shift 240 Wagon 200

Hi All,
I recently had my tranny mount and engine mounts replaced. When driving away from the garage, I heard a "lumpity-lump-lumpity" under the car and something fell out and broke up. At that moment, the noise in the car tripled and it seems to be coming from the shift well under the rubber boot. Do any of you have the sound proofing foam rubber piece that I lost? IS there a way I can resound-proof that shift well?
Please advise!

In the past I've used cheap car wash sponges from Pep Boys to replace this, I just cut a hole in the middle of them. The OEM piece is expensive, and I think NLA. After two years, the sponges are still holding up, even with Northeast winters under their belts.

I've heard that the foam that was originally used is the same as the seat foam, so if you have a spare seat with a shot cushion you could try cutting that up, but it's not something I've tried myself.

If it was just the foam that fits inside the rubber shifter boot...it wouldn't make any noise falling away...certainly not "lumpty......"

but other than that...just get a chunk of foam and cut it to fit.

agreed. You wouldn't have heard the foam falling out. But, there is a rubber boot under the leather shift cover, that may have fallen out and is a bit heavier than the foam. Could've hit the driveshaft on the way out of the car, maybe.
