Anyone in the San Diego area out there? 200

Hi. Looking to see if there's anyone out there in the San Diego area that would be able to pull some chrome rain gutter trim from some cars at the LKQ Chula Vista yard for me. There are 3 possible donor cars available. An '80, '81 & '83 240 series. They need to be from a sedan/coupe version. I'll gladly pay you for the parts, your time and shipping to me. Please let me know if anyone can help me out on my project car.

Thanks for your time.

There is a guy I met last week that does a small business pulling Volvo parts from the various yards in SD and SoCal He takes orders from customers across the country for shipment. I could get his contact info, if your still looking.

I am curious how they come off without twisting them and how would they ship? Even if there is a break would they not be about three feet long?

I might be going by a northern yard in about three weeks I could look at them out of my own curiosity!

I removed one once by using the rounded end of an old school can opener, not the pointed end. Gently start at the base of the front (windshield) and pry up from the bottom then down from the top side just to loosen it. Do this every couple of inches until you get to the seam at the door pillar (center post).
If you're lucky it might start to pop off and allow you to slide it on the gutter itself. One time I took a piece of wood and tapped from the bottom with a hammer to help loosen it. I hope this makes some sense.

        Thanks.

          Hi Phil/xraybob,

How about put together two old/recycled FEDEX tubes? You can flip it and tape them together. It's 6'-4" long. Good luck.

The rear piece is 4'-2" long
The front/curved piece is 5-8" and it's curved...
          Based on my wagon.

The front and rears are both curved adding to total width when packaged. It would be best to take a flat piece of stiff cardboard cut a little larger than the total dimensions of the trim and fold it making 2 layers on the top and 2 on the bottom to make it ridgid and tape it up secure along the 3 open edges.

              Hi xraybob,

That will work! Make sure that it doesn't get bent during shipping and handling...

And I wish that I am in San Diego. You are killing me everytime when you mention it. I might make a trip to SD next year, if not, the following... Can you wait that long? ;-)
