So, I just helped a friend put some tires on his brick.. 2 Kumho Solus P195 75R14... On the rear. The fronts look fine, plenty of tread, but I noticed the size is a bit different. P195 65R14... Does this matter at all? That's a difference in the sidewall, correct? 65 vs 75... Is this going to cause problems? I know he intends on buying 2 more soon enough, and doing the tie rods and steering u-joint, then getting an alignment on the new tires. But it should be ok until then, right? Or is there any actual advantage to this goofy set up? BTW it's a wagon..

    It's not a big deal, but try not to rotate them so that two different sizes are on each axle.

    You're talking about a difference of about 10mm +tread depth between a 195/65 and 195/75. Not a big deal. The 65's will have a slightly wider set too. Just make sure they all match eventually.

    At 24" diameter, the 195/65r14 tires are probably too small for the wagon and his speedo likely off. The 195/75r14 are probably the right size with a 25.5" diameter.

    I use this often when shopping for tires, as sometimes I see a tire I like but they may or may not make it in a specific size I want so I play with the sizes until I find the closest to the same diameter.

    You now have staggered tires...folks pay extra for that. I theory you have now changed the weight distribution a fraction of a percentage as the diameter of the 65's is ever so slightly smaller. Now, back to reality...now difference will be apparent.
