79-80 e-codes 200

...has anyone tried to find the old school e-codes as of late? I can only seem to find the 86-93 (81-93 euro) style online (fcp) and on ebay, but can't find the older ones anywhere. I don't want to change fenders, etc. for the updated look on my 1982 245...just want the old style rectangular euros. Any suggestions?

Just to clarify, this is the look I'm going for: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showpost.php?p=1416724&postcount=1

Are there any U.S. alternatives that have similar dimensions to these? I have been able to find the bezels here: http://www.avaxel.com/Light-case-RH-for-Volvo-240_p_310.html

aren't you just getting the 4 small square sealed beams replaced with 4 bulb type square units? classicgarage.com will sell inexpensive Indian Euro type units pretty cheaply, although they are definitely not as good as cibie and probably not as good as hella. They are built the old fashioned way, with brass reflectors chromed, and glass lenses, and standard h4, h1, etc. bulbs. I would talk to them first for an economical replacement. Then consider a relay set up if you don't have them already.

Is this the beam you're talking about? http://classicgarage.com/he-72206b.html If so, have you used these before in place of a direct OEM replacement pair?

If you find anything in the US like those shown in the Turbobricks post I'd be interested to know more. I must confess I haven't beat the bushes looking for them. Probably for thinking I'd have to buy from a European source.

Short of that you should be able to buy quad rectangular or round, whichever you have, from one of the following.

Dan has a good reputation as far as I know although he's been been ripped here at least once. I forget what the beef was. Probably high prices rather than poor product or service. CibiƩ is high quality as you no doubt know.

    or

Hella seems to be their main product.

I haven't actually dealt with either one.

I'd really like to convert my 242 to something like this, sans wipers and GLT emblem.

I think those are the same lights that you're looking for.

But I will most likely just get some 7" H4 lights.

Do you know the dimensions of the stock e-codes in that picture? Are they 8"x6"? I wonder what these would look like in place of them in the same bracket...

I wish I could tell you but I don't have specs on those. I think they are the same but I am not certain.

That's been the problem for me. Lack of information. I would hate to buy the wrong thing.

In just looking around a few minutes ago I saw a set of ecodes for "81-85" Volvo 240. Looks like what you want. Same seller was selling the trim.

if you're talking about the one on ebay, that's the right one..only problem is that the auction is for only one, not two, and it doesn't look like the headlight comes with the mounting bracket either. This is what the complete kit looks like: http://tcve.yuku.com/topic/425/8185-240-Euro-Headlight-Conversion#.URFdm1qlpe4

Does this look like the correct lens?

I've been finding the lenses (I think), but not the rest of the assembly...everything is 1981+

                  79-80 e-codes - Update 200

For anyone who may be following this, I did find a few sources that might lead somewhere. Some of the prices are pretty steep though:

                  www.skandix.de

                  -Square 242/GT e-codes: http://www.skandix.de/a/1018756/
                  -Rectangular bezels for 79-80 260: http://www.skandix.de/a/1020434/

From the same website, I also figured out that the following part numbers are the ones needed for the conversion:

                  -1258202 (Left reflector)
                  -1258203 (Right reflector)
                  -1202251 (Left bezel)
                  -1202252 (Right bezel)

It also looks like this Chicago-based dealership might still offer the whole assembly for sale: http://www.volvopartswebstore.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_product=1111509&ukey_assembly=235810

I'm going to shoot them an email and see if that's the case.
