940 cat back exhaust system missing parts? 900

I have done many 240 exhaust sytems over the years and this is my first 940 system.

I decided to go with Tasca parts for genuine Volvo exhaust kit as per suggestions here and on Swedish Bricks. The rear muffler had become detached so I pulled the resonator off.

While assembling the new system I noticed that the old system had a strap mount for the resonator and for the rear muffler. Looking at the parts from Volvo there is only 1 strap. I called Tasca, spoke to rep who stated that that's the way Volvo makes the kit and if I wanted the additional strap it would be $14.95. I'm surprised that the kit did not include all the necessary parts.

He stated that he would send it with another order I have pending for another car.

Is this normal in in your experience? Just wondering

    That is good to know but hard to believe. First second and third impression, the kit is wrong. Don't trust the parts folks there. No pictures are provided at the Tasca website. You should check with a dealer parts dept. Here is a 2005 photo of a Volvo OE turbo kit, complete.

      Thanks for the response. Wife's car is non turbo. The kit I received looks exactly like the turbo kit shown, but missing the round hanger for the resonator. not knowing which parts goes where I installed the hanger on the resonator and tied the rear muffler with coat hangers until the missing part arrives, to the tune of another $14.00.

        Chris Mullet is correct. See lucid's post. The kit is for one hanger. I wonder if the turbo changed.

          Hanger kit part number 900

          I have a 1991 740 NA, 1993 940 NA and a 1994 940 NA. They all have the same exhaust.

          The main kit from Tasca is 272259-3

          The WRONG hanger kit that I have received twice (rear muffler wraparound bracket is shaped wrong) is 272297-3.

          I think the correct hanger kit is 272296-5 and that is what I will order next time.

    Many years ago I installed the Volvo cat-back system on our 90 740. I do recall, however, that I had to purchase an extra "hanger kit" (or whatever they called it). Tasca should have told you about it at the time you ordered the system.
