1971 144S Automatic; Column Shift to Floor Shift Modification 140-160 1971

Hi. Has anyone done, or have information on, changing from column shift to floor shift on a 1971 144S with the BW35 automatic transmission? If so, please let me know. Thank you all very much.

Doug

    Hello,

It can be done, but you need to cut a hole in the shift tunnel add on the later shift tunnel section which accepts the stock shift bucket.

There is a guy on ebay selling a new shift tunnel, but he is asking $225.00 and we sell them for $75.00.

What is wrong with your column shift?

If the bushings are bad, we usually have all the bushings necessary to rebuild the original linkage.

Thank you, Eric, for your reply! Yes, the bushings are bad, especially the ball socket area; completely gone. I found your Web site and will obtain the parts when ready to do this.

      Doug
