87-740 steering pump bracket shim? 700

Hello,
Steeing Pump is out of alignment. How do I shim the bracket to correct this?
Thanks

Now Im not sure bracket is the problem. 700

When I started taking things apart, I found the bolt securing the pump to the bracket was loose. I tightened that bolt so I had just enough slack to tension the belt ,and after tensioning the belt I tightend everything up. Noise is gone.
I wondering if the problem is solved, or will it work loose again. Or what?
Right now Im squeal free.

Larue.

Steve is absolutely right here. $15 ain't bad at all for a "correct" fix.

If you are referring to what I wrote in a thread a couple days ago, I had placed a couple washers between the bracket and engine block on the forward-most hole(s) and it compensated for the worn pivot bolt hole. This is not a very good fix as it causes undue stress on the bracket when you tighten the mounting bolts down. The bracket no longer lays flat against the engine as it should.

I was just being el cheapo and assumed that Volvo would soak me for mega bucks for a new one. But 15 bucks? It's a no-brainer.

Thanks

Id gladly pay 15.00 for the bracket. I just need to know where to aquire it.

Ive searched all my usual places, ie eeuro, europarts , ipd, fcpgroto, rockauto,
autohauz,Tasca, europarts direct, and no one list the part. Maybe Im not asking the right questions, but this is all Ive come up with, and I believe the bracket in question is # 9.

Maybe the 15.00 part is from the days of yore?
Or possibly I havent looked in the right place yet?
Or Am I contemplating the wrong part?

Please comment
Thanks

Next stop, pick and pull.
According to my literature, the steering pump goes from 85 thru 94 , including 740 and 940. Im hoping that means they all have the same bracket.
Hopefully I can find something useful.

The problem is that a lot of the PnP ones will be in the same condition as your's.

It would be interesting to see if a good welder (heli-arc?) could close-up the hole a bit on the worn side and then you could redrill it.

I don't know which hole(s)in the cast aluminum bracket become sloppy, but Boring a hole out and pressing in a steel bushing would be my suggestion.

"...Boring a hole out and pressing in a steel bushing would be my suggestion..."

I thought of that also, but I don't know if there is enough meat around the hole to tolerate being drilled out to sleeve O.D. diameter.

The darned things should have been made with steel sleeves in the first place.

What about JB weld, or similar?

You don't. You buy a new bracket from the dealer or Tasca for about $15. The problem is hole wear in the aluminum, not otherwise shimmable.

No $15 brackets 700

You buy a new bracket from the dealer or Tasca for about $15.

As Larue points out below, the cast aluminum bracket (#9 in diagram, PN 1346267) is not that cheap.

Bracket $93.15 1346267

Hmm, prices seem to have increased. Check Borton Volvo in MSP as well.
