is it possible to rewire a 88 turn signal stalk to a 90 connector - 240? 200 1990

i have a good stalk but the connector isn't the same as the '90 connector.

$125.00 from FCP Groton.

sure would like to wire the good stalk onto the newer connector.

anyone know if this is possible?

Yes. I did it years ago when there weren't many in the junkyards. I don't remember if it was a straight swap of the wire locations. Get the '88 and '90 wiring diagrams if you're not confident. Hopefully you have a Bentley manual. Mike T.

it would seem that the spades plug into the wires for the turn signal switch. The wires coming down the stalk for the cruise control are the ones that are going to a different connector.

I'm still stuck unless someone has one that they can sell me (cheaper than FCP's price) or if someone can tell me whether I can swap the wires into the correct connector.

That's if the 4 wires do the same functions as the 4 on the old turn signal stalk.

thanks for anything guys!

You can, I have run my 91 cruise with an old lever, temporarily. I figured out the wires and functions. You have to give up one function, I chose to do without resume, all else will work fine with the old lever wired into the new cruise. If I can find the diagram, I will update you.

Have you opened the steering column and looked at the connection at the switch itself?

On my 91 they are individual spades. I recently change my stalk out from one I took off another junkyard special of unknown year. I think they are all the same unless you have a cruise control. That I cannot answer unless I go digging to find one I think I picked up.

It was probably way back when they made ships of wood and men of steel. (:)
