I was tinkering around in the 940 that I plan on pulling parts from and came upon a small metal box that piqued my interest.

It is on the right hand side of the steering column, close to the accelerator pedal (After removing plastic knee guard panel and metal protective panel) It was getting dark, but I saw a pink sticker with a (Z) on it, and a large harness plug on the underside of it.

I'm wanting to guess that it is the Ignition Computer?

    Yes, ignition computer. Often referred to as the EZK. The EZK in the photo below is a Gold EZK. They are found in 1994-95 turbo 940s and are desirable because they can be re-chipped. EZKs seldom fail, and unless you have one which can be re-chipped have little value since they last the life of the car.
