window scraper "fuzzie' 444-544

Hi, The amount of things that have been covered in this forum is pretty comprehensive, but the one thing that is never mentioned is the fitting of the inner scrapper "fuzzie" the one with the wire staples. The reason that brings this to mind with you folks across the 'pond' is my mate has a 1958 EDSEL RANGER so his and my PV are of the same fitting, I know that these can be stuck back on but I thought at least one of you might have a better idea, but then you do not get the rain that we do so they do not need to be waterproof. (He! He! ) I bet I get some answers from the rain bit.

I lived in Panama for 22 years and I know ALL about rain! Fortunately it was warm.
What I did was to clamp the fuzzie in place and mark through the holes with a right-angle scriber and then drill really small holes through the fuzzies at those points. Then I found some galvanized wire of the appropriate gauge and wired them in, twisting the ends together so they would stay in place. Worked out OK for me - this was in a 122 but I imagine any should work the same.
Sort of an elementary shade-tree solution.

walrus3 ,sounds like a good idea to me, the "fuzzie" that you buy nowadays is not quite the same,ie: not as deep but better quality steel insert. I have put a little waterproof adhesive on first, then drilled the holes a little bigger, then bound the lot together with 10lb fishing line, linking them up at the back.
You can use any poundage line you like, the reason I used fishing line was because it is more flexible if you don't get the holes quite it line.

Or you can drill small holes along the frame and use sheet metal screws to hold down the fuzzie. The supplier that I purchased my fuzzies from (Swedish Treasures) also sells the little screws. You sink them down below the fuzzy height to avoid scratching the window glass.

I also just drilled the replacement fuzzy and used tiny screws, which is easier than trying to wire them in place. As mentioned, insure the screws are tiny and embedded deep enough so as not to scratch the glass. I didn't catch one and it did scratch the glass.
