emergency brake light not working suddenly 200 1989

It's either the light itself OR is there something else I should look at like maybe something to do with the emergency brake handle ? All I know is the light suddenly does not work now when I pull up on the emergency brake. Thanks.

The plunger is probably dirty inside the switch or bulb out in your new cluster.

The switch is right in front under the handle. When pulled up you can then quickly push it with your finger and it may snap it loose.

They do get sticky. A little denatured alcohol from the hardware store and a cotton swab can clean the plunger of the accumulated gunk. Silicone spray that has a decent solvent carrier can also work and not leave residue behind to gather more dirt.

Most likely the switch is dirty, as the SoCal Phil suggests. The NorCal Phillip could check the lamp test function (key on engine off) to see if the bulb is the culprit. Details in the owner's handbook.

        FIXED! 200 1989

Well turns out it was NOT the light bulb. The removable so called "cup holder" at the back of the E-brake handle between the seats had gotten sort of "pushed down" and was messing with the wires. Pulled up that cup holder and all is fine. I use use that cup holder a lot to keep bottles of h20 in it and somehow must have pushed on the bottles which in turn pushed down the holder and eventually it got pushed down enough to mess the wires up. . Anyway, thanks for your inputs.
