100 amp alternator into 1983 242 200 1983

I found a 740 turbo in the pick a part with a 100 amp alternator. With it fit into a 1983 242?

Thanks

I changed the one in my old '85 245Ti to a 100A from a 740, sorry was a long time ago and I don't remember any issues with the swap, if there were any they were minor.

You might have to so some 'Minority Engineering', as I have had trouble fitting 740 alternators on 240's due to the thickness of the tab for the adjusting bolt to go through. The 740 has a thicker tab and the bolt from the 240 is too short.
A better choice is to have your present alternator rebuilt at a reliable shop. That way you know it will fit.

I will be honest I am not sure of the year. The car is a 740 turbo. Next time I go to the yard I will get the year. The alternator has a label that clearly states that it is a volvo part and the rating is 100 amps. It maybe that the alternator was from another car.

It probably belonged to that car. I swapped a 100amp in my 85 that originally had a 70amp. But both were 740s.
