My factory wiring book shows that the sensor for the outside temperature display is on the driver's (left) side behind the bumper, and has Green-Yellow and Green-Brown wires going to its connector. The book says its wires go straight to the cluster display via a couple of connectors. They do not go to the Motronic computer.
The book shows the ACC outside temp sensor is located in the intake air duct for the blower fan, and has Black and White-Black wires which go directly to the ACC control unit.
There is another sensor under my 1998 S90 front bumper on the right side and it looks identical to the one for the cluster display. I haven't checked, but if its wire colours are Violet-White and Green-Grey, this is the outside temp sensor for the Motronic computer. The diagrams indicate this was used only on 1998 model year S/V 90's in the USA and Canadian markets.
If you have a new (and working correctly) display sensor and still have a non-functioning display, check wiring and connectors.
