Hard Vacuum Line over valve cover 940 Turbo Where to? 900 1992

Just noticed that the hard vacuum line that goes over the top of the engine from the intake manifold to somewhere in the turbo area had come loose and melted its end on the exhaust manifold. Where exactly does this attach? I don't see any open connections.

It attaches to the large turbo intake hose after the air mass meter on the curve going down to the turbo. Look under the upper radiator hose.

Thanks but,

Well, I still can't seem to find the connector. I have one large soft hose going from the turbo inlet hose over the engine to the flame trap. One medium soft hose going from mid intake manifold to the silver turbo controller body, then this hard hose which I still can't figure out that comes from the top of the intake manifold and goes ?????.

This may be of little help whereas hardknocks! would.

My Frankenstein's monster, a 1991SE 940T has a vac line coming from the intake manifold with a T connector each with two check valves attached to two thin hard plastic vac lines. The only ones that can get near the exhaust manifold goes to the upper AC drier inlet flange on the firewall with two other vac lines, if it wasn't secured to the firewall correctly. This vac line is not turbo related.

This monster may be different from yours since the SE is half 960 and half 940.

Hmm. You may have something there, the climate control doesn't seem to be able to change the vents around--lack of vacuum maybe? I'll look up a complete vacuum diagram tomorrow.

Yep, that line goes to a check valve and on to the mysterious climate control system behind the dash.

I found a picture on Turbobricks:

http://www.threefattigers.com/Protocore/Volvo/940CheckValve.jpg

It didn't affect the idle or anything since the end of the loose tube melted shut on the hot manifold.

Without looking, that pic seems to be the same as a standard 940. My 91 SE has that lousy failure prone ACC system, with a different vac line arrangement.

Anyway you found the issue, I hope.

hello
connects to some small inline heater thing in the big hose from the airbox to the turbo inlet.
