brake reservoir 140-160 1972

So I'm trying to reinstall my reservoir on top of new seals and a new MC but I can't push the two male ends of the reservoir down enough so the bottom of it rests nice and flush on the seals. There's abot a little more than half a cm between the seals and the bottom of the rese. Any tips?

    Hello,

Do you have the reservoir oriented correctly?

The opening for filling the reservoir should be closer to the brake booster.

oh, in Haynes it has the rese opening farther away from the booster. I will go switch it.

        Hello,

The Haynes manual is correct and I am not.

I was thinking about an 1800E/164 brake master.

          Reverse It 140-160 1972

I put mine on backwards, it stops the fluid squirting out on to the underside of the bonnet under heavy braking. Maybe that's why they reversed it on the other MC?

the gap between the seals and the bottom of the reservoir is small but not flush. Should I fit the seals on the reservoir male ends first, then push it all into the master?

            Hello,

The reservoir grommets need to be installed in the brake master first, then the reservoir is installed.

Did you lubricate the seals and the reservoir barbs with some brake fluid?

oops. I lubed the outside but wasn't thinking about the inside. Got it, going now.

ok, I definitely heard the ends snap into place.
One other questions. I sprayed the inside with brake clean and scrapped out built up sediment and debris in the reservoir. I then kept doing that for awhile until I thought it was pretty clean. I then sprayed compressed air into it to try and blow out an remaining debris. Is the master going to be ok if there are a few small specks of particles in the fluid?

                  Hello,

You should be okay if you do a thorough flush with clean brake fluid.

OK, well I went ahead with starting the bench bleed because the fluid looked pretty clean to me. i'm doing the "tubes back into the reservoir" bench bleed. It's going pretty well but there's a hell of a lot of tiny bubles still lingering in the farthest circuit port. I'll keep plunging until I get it as clear as I can.
