72 145 injector wisdom 140-160

I want to change my orig stock injectors in an effort to make this 72 145 run smoother. I suspect them the cause for random occasional misfire / breakup during acceleration (has all new tuneup stuff). Is there a good reman (upgrade?) injector out there? If so which one? I also dont like the look of the original Inj wiring harness, does anyone have one for Sale?

THX!!

My 72 E had the exact symptoms you describe. I found the throttle switch electrical connection was carroded and loose. The car has not missed a beat with those symptoms since the connector was cleaned and tightened,

D-Jet usually works, or it dies. For random misfire / breakup during acceleration, I would look at the ignition.

What sort of plug leads do you have? What plugs?

I seriously doubt if your injectors are at fault.
Cruzin Performance in Big Rapids, Michigan can clean and calibrate them but if they are all working they probably are not contributing to roughness.
If you are getting stumbling at constant speed you should check/clean your throttle position switch. I use 1000 or 2000 grit wetordry paper. Also make sure it is adjusted IAW the manual.

Seems lots of folks are keen on using a pencil eraser to clean the switches.

Either way, it's a real quick and easy thing to try...

Search the board for 'd jet throttle switch', and you'll come up with lots of posts not unsimilar to this one started by Mr Walrus3 himself...

I'm reluctant to use a pencil eraser for a couple reasons:
1. The grit size varies a lot and is probably too coarse to use many times.
2. The item being abraded is brass and may be corroded by the sulfur in the rubber residue.
I think 2000 grit wetordry paper is ideal. A piece an inch square is plenty.

In addition to that, I'll add one more bit...

I seem to recall that those switches are well sealed, and once they are opened up for cleaning, it seems a rather slippery slope of declining performance, requiring more frequent cleanings...

So, if the switch has never been opened, I'd try to keep it that way, and source another used switch to clean and install for diagnostic purposes, and keep the virgin switch just that...

Then again, maybe I'm just paranoid. But with the ES now at about 110k miles, the throttle switch functions perfectly and has never been apart..
