Hi all.. Having a rough idle issue that I would appreciate some suggestions to.
Its not really really rough but shakes the motor a bit and is annoying .
Have replaced FPR with a genuine item... Both pumps seem to work... Brand new intake hose.. No vacume leaks that I can find... New dizzy cap and rotor... New plugs..
Seems to run the same cold and hot... Starts fine... No hesitation on take off and runs smooth at all other revs and out on the open road... Makes no difference when air mass meter or tps is disconnected... Got me beat!

    Keep after it for a while - the suggestion of motor mounts was a good one - but also accept that you may never solve this. My '93 shakes like a junky two days clean, and always has. The addition of a 'A' cam made it a bit worse, but I have never had a smooth idle. I got used to it.

    The idle on the 4 cylinder 240 could be considered rough when compared to other smoother running engines.

    Broken motor mounts could contribute to a rougher looking idle.

    How are the spark plugs? If they show soot, you may have a problem with the ignition amplifier. If spark isn't good you'd get a rough idle.

    The Idle Air Control is the main item that stabilizes the idles. It can be cleaned and often works better after. That being said, many people never get rid of the minor head shake.

      Thanks for that... Idle air valve is clean and nearly new.. It's more than a minor idle issue.. But not quite a major one.... If that makes sense!
