as you all know by now i have been having one hell of a time resurrecting my trusty ol 1986 740 wagon.

well i finally traced it down to degraded engine harness. i have checked and heatshrinked all of the exposed wires all the way back to good wiring(where i could no longer pull insulation off with fingernail) and buttoned everything back up.
i seperated the alt to starter red plus wire as stated. i also had to replace the fuel and icu(spark) computers as atleast the icm was fried due to the bad wiring(fuel pumps did not engage)

now that the fuel pumps are working once again as well as the rpm needle jumping when i attempt to start her(ignition amp. swap fixed that) the car will not kick over. i can smell fuel so i know fuels no longer an issue. i furthermore replaced the injectors with the greentop bosch(may be blue) from a turbo 740 mid 1980s vintage i had laying around(had them when i was trying to convert to e-85 but gave up lol)

what else could have been zapped from the bad wiring? and what else should i test/replace?

resurrection day is near i can taste victory but the war is still raging. has died down dramatically though thank god.

true but they occured at totally diff times so.... with that being said can prob. delete or blend the other posts.

and if i thought of what it was i wouldnt be asking correct? posting and responding is what makes brickboard work and keeps it from going under. i see what you are claiming to be "six" similar posts but thats apparently how the servers are set up to do. it happens with ALL posts i put as well as others. idk why but the IT field is not my cup of tea. lol(been there done that costed me 7 grand for 2 quarters and i dropped that idea like a bad habit-mechanics for me:))

oh lol mustve been an issue with chrome sorry. i use the wireless provided to me in my apt complex for free and its junk despite the director spending thousands on getting it fixed.

anyhows.... resurrection day has arrived! finally stupid me forgot that my friend disconnected coil lead to dist. she fired right up after priming. runs VERY rich at first and than evens out.

are the bosch greentop injectors ok to use in a n/a engine? i think they are similar to the ford greentops they suggest to use if converting to e-85 and they are from a mid-80's vintage b230ft(1988). i got them for free lol. it seems to run like a champ minus the smokescreen in the very beginning. that is the easy part the hard stuff is behind me now. i rebuilt the injectors with new o-rings hats and that yellow spacer. i previously had 2 originals and 2 siemens yellow tops in there(the siemens were from rex/regina i think if i remember and were replaced due to cracked injector hats) i should also mention that i got a gap in the flange gasket that needs to be redone. should the o2 be replaced?

let me know what i should do to even out the mixture and thanks a TON for all of you guys(and gals) patience:) why i like brickboard and this is what makes the forums work.

Running rich: the greentop injectors could very well be the problem, they will flow more fuel for the same electrical pulse. Later fuel injection systems were advanced enough to adjust for such things, but your LH2.2 computer can't do much about it. Try a set of yellowtops and see how it runs.

ok so its the greentops. thats what i suspected. ill have to swap them back over soon as i get to the wreckers for a diff rail. it was slightly bent we got it back but could use renewing(cheap enough at wreckers)

where can i obtain the injector rates,patterns etc. for the yellowtops(siemens) the originals from 1986 as well as the grentops? i was thinking of calling bosch but im not certain theyd still have that much on the older stuff.
