Yoshifab 240 lower brace install 200

I recently bought the Yoshifab lower chassis braces. The Cherry Turbo brace sold by IPD is no longer available, and I'd always resisted buying that one because it involved drilling new holes for mounting. The Yoshifab braces cost about the same and require no drilling. Frount mount is through a hole in the crossmember. Rear mount is into an existing threaded hole in the frame rail (NOT into the A-arm mount!!). These braces appear to be well-made and are a relatively straightforward install. The reason for this post, with pictures, is because the braces do not come with directions. There are no installation instructions on the Yoshifab site, either. Turbobricks has a post claiming they install at the same points as the Cherry Turbo brace (with instructions on the IPD site), but that is clearly not true for current production.

The mounting points can be difficult to find when lying on one's back under the car. Especially since the rear mounting points may be mostly covered under undercoating goo (like mine were). Once I knew roughly where to poke, I got busy with a small phillips screwdriver and soon found the nice pre-threaded holes in the frame rails. Hopefully these pictures will help others in the future.

I think I'll be dropping the front connections and reinstalling with a larger washer between the crossmember and the lockwasher, as it does not appear to seat as solidly as I'd like as-is. Cannot comment on how much of an improvement they make to the car's rigidity as my other morning project was tie rod ends so I only drove the car around the block. May comment after alignment and new tires on Monday.

Will the braces fit with the belly pan in place, or does it have to be permanently removed?

The pan should fit fine. Bellypan bolt holes are near the front of the crossmember, about an inch forward of where the braces mount.

I've had a set of Yoshifabs sitting in the trunk of my '93 for two months because I couldn't see the rear mounting point, so I was waiting until I had the spare time to investigage further. Your post, especially about the threaded hole being likely covered with undercoating, was timely and right on!
        Thanks.

I've had a set sitting around for a bit too. Just haven't gotten around to putting them on yet.

There was a bit of inadvertent (or maybe they were joking around?) humor on TB when someone installed them between the frame rails.

Excuse my ignorance, but exactly what forces/flexes are these braces intended to reduce? I'd have the sense not to install them between the frame rails, but I admit that it's not immediately clear what would be moving around that will be more stable with these in place.
