No power on takeoff with ac on 900

'92 940 n/a

If I have the ac on and come to a stop, sometimes (not always) when the light turns green and I push the gas its has almost no power. Hit the compressor off button and it powers right up and scoots down the road. After about 100' I turn the ac back on and all is well... Any ideas?

    Vacuum?

    That is the first thing I thought of, but it does seem a bit lame.

    Possibly someone with better knowledge will chime in.
