hello everyone. 93' 940 power steering seems hard. fluids ok. no leaks. no groaning noises or whines. what is it? thanks brickers

    Have you lubed the steering shaft u-joints? That is a major reason for stiff or binding steering in Volvos. Do a search or try the 700/900 FAQ, there should be plenty on this subject in archives...:)

    Can you provide a more detailed description of the symptoms and under what conditions you encounter the hard to steer symptoms?

    Have you or anyone performed any front suspension and steering work to your awesome Volvo 940? Do you no of any front end impacts?

    How's the alignment?

    Any noises?

    Belts are tight?

    How's the power steering fluid? Been changed at all? Just be certain you use the power steering fluid as specific in your Volvo 940 owner manual.

    Alignment? Tire properly inflated?

      It has been like that for a long time. My other 95' 940 is very easy to steer.
      aligment is perfect on the 93' I am going to get new tires now and they are worn
      out perfectly across. they still stand straight up on the floor perfectly flat.
      No accidents. fluid has never been replaced, but is on the level line.
      Maybe is the way this steering operates.

        FWIW my 93 945 is not as easy steering as my 2 daughters' 1995 940s. Mine has new balljoints and no unusual noises and tires inflated to 35 lbs, also no alignment problems.
