240 ABS problem.?

Just pulled my 93 240 out of storage, was problem free when put away, only 50k on the car.
Backed it out of the driveway and the brakes almost went to the floor, abs light on with brakes.
Brake fluid is at max, no leaks. If I step on the brakes off and on at idle, drops off, back up when I
stop it. Searched for vac leaks, nothing obvious.
I have brakes, but need to pump to use. What next.
Thanks in advance.
John

I just re-read your post. If no brake fluid has leaked out, it is probably a bad master cylinder. The rubber seals are allowing the fluid past them instead of pushing it out into the lines. When you replace the MC, replace the old brake fluid as well.

How long was the car in storage?
Sounds as if you have air in your brake system or a bad master cylinder. Both could be the result of the deterioration of rubber parts in the system.
If it was my car, I would drain all of the old brake fluid and bleed the system with fresh fluid. If that works, monitor the area under the car for brake fluid leaks, especially around each tire.
If bleeding the brakes doesn't work, it is likely a master cylinder. Rebuild or replace it.
I have little experience with ABS. However, it sure sounds like one of these two problems.
