Windshield leak and ICU 200

Hey all,

My 1991 240 apparently has a leak at the bottom of the windshield that drips right on the ignition control unit while driving. I was thinking of sticking the ICU in a plastic bag with the open side down, or loosely draping some plastic over it as a temporary fix until I can get the windshield sealed. Is there any chance the ICU could overheat being covered in plastic? How about the fuel system control that is just to the right of it? I don't imagine they produce much heat, but who knows?

Thanks for the help.

DC

I have a 91 also that leaked on the ECu in the right kick panel. had the windshield replace because of a crack and it stilled leaked. right front floor wed when it rained. finally found the issue to be the rubber seal that goes cover that goes over the wiper to the arm. Check it. sound like that could be you problem. I order new one from IPD.

I don't think you need to worry about heat but you could put sheet plastic over the top of each so they are not enclosed in a bag. Make sure water does not get into the fuel system relay also.

If your leak is not the windshield look at the windshield wiper motor shaft seal that may be the cause.

Dan,

Thanks for the reply. I was definitely going to cover the fuel relay too. And you are right, there is water coming in through the wiper motor seal too, as well as several places I could see dripping along the base of the windshield. Do you know of a source for a new wiper motor seal.

Thanks again for the reply.

Dan
