That sounds like what I ran into 2 years ago on my '93 940 -- the skinny pipe on top of the frame rail that connects up front to a shorter, curved pipe that connects to the condenser.
I needed the shorter curved one, but Volvo said not any more. I then decided to try aftermarket, and to my surprise found out that BOTH of those pipes were available (as a unit) under the PN of the front one (I think).
So far, I can't find the receipt, but will post back if/when I do.
