1800ES rear interior demensions? 1800

I was goin gto say how big are their rears but...
I was wondering if someone can take a tape measure to their rear cargo area, seats down and let me know how long X wide X high the rear of an ES is?
Thanks

Tricky question, 'cuz the area lacks a lot when it comes to 'squareness'. But here goes:

The "floor" is about 59" long with the seats folded forward, but at the roof area, the length is 40" give or take a little. The floor width goes from around 49" at the front to about 40" at the rear hatch area (width at the ceiling is a few inches less at both ends). Height also varies a little, with about 22" at the front dome light to 21" at the rear dome light. Also, the fenderwells intrude a bit, measuring 38" apart at the floor.

Thank you!
I think other than the height it is almost as big as my 2010 Jetta Tdi wagon. I often wonder about selling that for an older car. Nothing wrong with the VW it's just that I find newer cars rather insulated from the driving experience. Can't argue with the gas, ('er diesel) mileage though. the othe rissue is I do cary lumber and furniture occasionally and oh, an English Mastiff. he needs more headroom. he is quickly outgrowing the VW too. Currently 13 months and 160lbs. his dad was 230...may need a 245 with HD springs lol

For what you talk about, an ES is awful tight. I unloaded the ES today, after the trip... whole car, plus the car top carrier contents into a laid up 240 wagon. Boxes of books and such.

Barely made a dent in the space available in the 245. But the ES was full.

And, dogs here are border collie sized. in the back, the headliner was not much above their shoulders....

Lumber? Furnature?

Yep, if you have to haul the dog and big stuff, get something bigger.

Gary.. I'm glad you didn't post this a month ago.

It most definitely would have caused me to second guess the decision of loading up the dogs and hitting the road :)

I would have made measurements, but the car is still full of stuff...

Yes. ES has a lot of room inside compared to a 1800 coupe.

They do not hold a candle to a 140 or 240 wagon.

But they are cool as hell.

Cool as hell, indeed! That's one vehicle that will most definitely be part of my estate sale. And I'm a youngster! ;)
