Is there only "one way" to install a new throttle cable in our '89 wagon, or is there any 'shortcut"?

Mines basically OK, but i think it's stretched out and won't let me adjust the idle at the 'top part' due to the stretch. Anyway after 23 years might as well put in a new cable. Thanks.

(For some odd reason I like fixing things that aren't broke. Well, the cable is only stretched-not really "broke" -I guess.)
