It's basically a configurable, programmable standalone engine management system. A total replacement for the Bosch fuel and ignition computers.

I've been running it on my 245 since 2006. I recently re-did the engine electronics and upgraded from the old MS1 V2.2 box to a snazzy new MS3X box. Now it's doing dual fuel, electronic boost control, sequential coil-on-plug ignition, idle control, sequential injection (Bosch LH fires all 4 at the same time), electric fan control, wideband O2 sensor feedback, knock sensing.

There are probably some minor improvements that could be made to a totally stock motor. And you can actually implement it using the stock wiring harness (just make an adapter harness between the big stock harness plugs behind the dash and the MS plug). But I went to a programmable injection system when my car significantly diverged from stock (a turbo, with lots of boost, with big injectors). Later on I added the ability to switch between E85 fuel (105 - 110 octane - good for turbo cars) and normal gas.

I still need to get around to implementing a launch control/flat shift function - just need a switch on the clutch pedal. This basically does a low rpm rev limiter when the clutch pedal is down. You can dial the rpm in to best suit the car's launch from a stop. You push the pedal down and floor it, the revs go up to the set point, then hang there as the engine starts skipping sparks. It can (and will) build boost doing this as well. Then as soon as the pedal comes up the engine goes to full power. This also works well for shifting - keep the pedal flat to the floor while you clutch and shift, revs will only go up to the setpoint, and the turbo won't start to de-spool and you won't loose as much boost.
