Low MPG and 113 code - '89 240 200 1989

Good evening,
I've got an '89 240 automatic with 166k on it. It gets terrible MPG. For example, today I put 5.5 gallons in and after 50 miles on the highway (60-65 MPH) it was down in the red again.
CEL is on and the code is 1-1-3 so I ordered a new O2 sensor.. (That's what that code means right?) The car runs and idles great..
What else would cause 1-1-3 and any suggestions for getting the MPG up a bit?
Spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc only have about 20k on them..
Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

    Installed the new O2, reset engine light.. 150 miles later and the CEL has not returned and from what I can see the MPG has improved GREATLY!
