Off idle stumble solved B230FT 700

Recently pulled the the injectors after a misfire condition lasted for about 2-5 miles. Discovered the plastic cap for the #4 injector was gone, thought that may have been cause of the miss?

Had some aftermarket caps (black) not yellow like Bosch. Did not suspect the cap on #4 might be creating an off idle stumble but pulled the injectors again and #4 was distorted and partially obstructing the tip.

Obviously exhaust was gassy and mileage dropped due to dripping not atomized fuel

Hoping a new Bosch cap stays in place (snapped on) Strange?

Use nothing but Bosch inj. caps 700

Had planned to replace all the aftermarket caps or as Bosch calls them "protective sleeves" but since the stumble returned I put the job on high priority tonight. Sure enough the two remaining caps were either already "digested" or disolved! Apparently they were not resistant to gasoline?

    Ah, just a comment..

I did a little shade tree work on my old Ford Contour (Mazda 2.0L) and knocked a cap off an injector as well. Those end caps are nearly impossible to remove but I got another one off. And then I noticed that I'd broken the end of the pintle too! New injector for ME!
