Multi-X Wheel Fitting on 240 200 1990

I am looking to buy a set of 15" Multi-X rims (from a 780, so not Scorpius?).

The rims have Bridgestone Potenza RE11 205/50/R15 tires on them.

I have a '90 245 with standard steelies, with 185/70/R14 tires mounted, lowered with IPD springs and Billy HDs (don't remember how much lower).

I realize the change will make the speedometer 4.7% "too fast", which isn't really a problem for me. I also read about the brake caliper clearance issue, so I will make sure the balance weights go on the inside of the tire/rim.

Two questions I have:

1. Will these be too wide for my 240?
2. Is the sidewall on a 205/50 tire going to be too short to handle the weight of the wagon?

All advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

So far I hear only good things, aside from the mention of interference with the front caliper (with vented rotors).

Any other confirmations on the front vented rotor caliper problem? I have vented rotors, but it seems like that problem may have been a unique case.

Thanks
Mike

I have a set of Multi X's and have switch them back and forth between my 1990 240 and 1990 245. The only clearance issue I had was with the inside wheel balance weight hitting the "ears" on the rear calipers. The solution is to switch to stick on balance weights.

I tried to do this and the wheel hit the front brake caliper.
This is on a turbo with the vented rotors. I don't know about the non vented.
They would need spacers to work on the vented rotors.

1. no
2. no
Also, I believe the clearance issue only applies to Virgo wheels, other 15" fit fine AFAIK.

But these are Terrible wheels! Terrible!
Give them to me and I'll take care of the horror for you. :)

I have a 240 with normal (not lowered) springs that have Hydra wheels (16x6.5, with 25mm offset) and with 205/55-16 tires, they fit fine.

However, I don't know how much the lowered IPD springs will affect your situation.
