Adding rear Fog light in 240 200

Hi architectom,

As Mr. Benstein asks, what year and model Volvo 240 you have?

I'll guess you have a pre-1986 (to 1988 model) 240 sedan or wagon?

If your model Volvo is a sedan or wagon that uses tail lights that do not appear like those you see on, say, a 1986 or 1988+ 240, like the five panel wrap around sedan/coupe tail lights on a North American market 1980 Volvo 240, you can't add the rear fog light function without modification to that or any other tail light assembly on a 240 without modifying the tail light assembly electrics, and different or modified bulb holders.

In other, non-North American markets, those older tail light design may have included the rear fog light function using the (left) tail light assembly. I think, yet am not sure, that it is the left brake light on, say, a 1992 240 (a 1986 or 88 and newer North American market 240 with the integrated tail light red fog lamp function).

If you Volvo 240 does have the the tail lights on a 1986 or 88 and newer North American market 240 sedan, or any 240 wagon with the wrap around tail lights, using tail lights from a salvage yard or from a new parts vendor, locate the rear fog lamp switch from a newer 240 to the left of the dash display (I've found a version on the center console toggle switch row a long time ago), wiring diagrams, analysis and planning time, wire, and all the other accoutrement Art can suggest, well, yes, you can do so.

It gets foggy in CT-state, for sure!

Else, you may want to consider a unique and separate fused-protected circuit and fog light assembly mounted on the aft of your Volvo 240.

Please indicate year and model.

I'm sure Art has insight I don't on this.

Good idea having a aft (rear) fog lamp, though!

Hope that helps.

I'm replaying to your radio question, so I'm looking at your post history index to learn more about your year and model 240.

Also, Volvo OEM parts are the best value when gotten from Tasca Volvo Parts - unless it is a 3$ part and 10$ to ship it. As you are in CT-state, you'll get shipped parts from Tasca to you in a day or two max!

Thanks. Hope that helps. Questions?

MacDuffed.

Do'h! I see you have a 1983 Volvo.

Sedan or wagon?

Do you own another 240 series?
