stalling 200

Going about 25mph. Suddenly had to hit the brakes hard! Almost ran a light, Whew! Engine stalled. Started engine , seemed OK. A little later going own street behind a slow truck, about 20mph. Engine dies, pulled over to curb, waited a bit-started engine. Seems OK.

Weekend all fine. Today, went somewhere , got there, pulled up to park, engine died on its own. Started it, drove about another hour on city streets . Engine seems fine.

Symptoms-engine when it stalls then after start the idle is slow rpms. Later, idle rpms comes up. If idle is up, engine wont stall, but I can’t tell if engine is going to stall or go back to a slow idle. .
Opinions please. Thank you.

If you want to blame the AMM just check the accordion tube behind it as you may have created a small crack in it. Other than that, my first thought was the same as Dan’s post.

Dirty throttle body and idle air control valve.

AMM also maybe? 200

How about the air mass meter-could it have anything to do with it? Thanks btw. ill check out what you said. The other thing i find curous is why would it seem it started because I slammed on the brakes hard as if thats what caused it to start doing that? Does hard braking affect things like that?

I have experienced similar stalling that was resolved by cleaning dirty TB and IAC valve. The idle air control valve modulates to let air past the closed throttle body so if it is sluggish the idle won't be well controlled. Especially if the gap between the throttle body and plate is all gunked up.
This is a simple cheap routine maintenance item that cures a lot of woes.

I will check all that out for sure. What puzzles me is that this stalling started right after I made that hard stop. Up till then everything was fine. Thats why I feel the hard braking itself did something, like knocked something loose. I have visually checked everything I can. . Thanks.
