Opinion on hacksawing around fuel filter 200

My son was replacing the fuel pump & filter, and the 19MM banjo bolt on the filter became stuck or stripped. I got a used replacement banjo bolt, but I want to get out the fuel feeder line part (it's over $50 new, $78 or so from dealer). I might be able to cut the head off the banjo bolt, but was wondering if that would be dangerous around a fuel filter - is there a chance a spark would ignite fumes in the fuel filter? I took the other banjo bolt off to let the filter "air out". Opinions? Thanks.

We have it off and on the bench and everything. The question at this point is, is it safe, and possible to saw off the stuck bolt without damaging the banjo fitting. We have the other end of the fuel filter removed to let it air out and everything. I think the real issue is whether we can get it off without damaging the banjo fitting... After thinking about it for a little bit, I'm starting to doubt if that's feasible or not.

nice source for better banjo bolts cheap.

what has stripped is the thread inside the fuel filter which holds the bolt to the filter. you now have no practical choice but to remove imo the entire fuel pump assembly under the car and repair it on a bench.

it really isn't that big of a deal and it is much safer and easier to go this route than f---- with it under the car.

We have it on the bench already. Thanks for the info about the banjo bolt, but I think that may be for the 17mm, I need the other one.

I would not hacksaw on the filter, but you might try holding the end of the filter and the stripped bolt with a large pair of vicegrips or pipe wrench.

Held the filter in a vice and turned the 19mm banjo bolt w/ a pipe wrench - it spun several rotations but did not back out - must be stripped.

I'd suspect that the steel fitting threads were good and had destroyed the alloy filter threads.

I've been able to remove the fitting bolt by grabbing with a vice grips and pulling as I turn. A couple of times I've had to pry it out as I turned. A pickle fork can be used.
