240 egr pipe removal -exhaust manifold gasket replacement 200 1989

have the manifold nuts/bolts removed and now am needing to remove the egr pipe.
have pb'd it for while and now which of the nuts do i turn? the outer most or the one next to manifold.

looked at faq's and they say remove egr pipe. any other tips on doing this gasket job easy/easier?

    counter hold the one next to the manifold and turn the outermost nut

        the nut is off , but the pipe itself is stuck/rusted in the fitting and won't budge. any suggestions ?

        if all else fails, i may find myself with non egr car if i need to cut the egr pipe to get manifold off to replace gasket.
        no smog tests here in anchorage anymore anyway.
