544weather strip channel 444-544

Does anyone know of alternate or replacement for the weather strip channel along door bottoms. Mine are rotted off.

Thanks for the input. This was about what I expected. I may experiment with just gluing the rubber to the doors with perhaps 2 or 3 sheetmetal screws or rivets at strategic places. An alternative might be to find a weather strip with a profile more conducive to gluing into a corner as is done on many other vehicles.

I was thinking about the same thing. Here is one possibility. It has a wide flange for gluing

There is another option. This outfit has channel that looks about right but I think they probably want to sell a decent size run of it. How many out there might want some? I can request a quote.

I used some "c" channel pieces from an old door that was damaged. Got them from the sides where they were still good.

    Hello,

Just about all the rubber is available new including the lower door seals.

FYI, the rubber seals for both opening rear quarter windows just recently became available as well along with the front and rear windshield trim.

Hi Eric: I think the question was referring to the metal "C" channel that the rubber weatherstripping rides in. I have the same problem and havent really been able to find it new. I was thinking about ways to fabricate the missing pieces but not too easy. A local sheet metal shop might be the way to go for straight sections. Might be able to bend it to the curves but not sure.

        Hello,

        I think you are right.

Volvo used to sell the "C" channel separately, but it is no longer available.

Back in the early 1990's, we did a partial restoration on a 544 and we ran into the same problem.

IIRC, the "C" channel was still available back then, but it was cheaper to buy a used non-running 544 with good doors than the labor quote for removing, preparing, bending(the "C" channel was supplied with no bends) and installing the channel to the doors.
