Hello,

Does anyone know a good place to get variety of plastic pieces that I need for my 1989 Volvo 740T? Specifically, I need black vent trims that are located on the top of my dashboard that need to be replaced? Also the plastic housing that surrounds my automatic transmission shifter is broken and needs to be replaced? Where can I get this stuff? Does anyone know? Local junk yard does not have these particular pieces?

I have plastic trim that goes from the ash tray to the arm rest - it has the clear plastic piece to see the gear number/letter. It is from a 780 but looks to be the same as 740 from pictures. Can verify by comparing measurements. Has a few issues but the few things wrong are covered by the ash tray & screws..

I've been looking for a good six months for the same vent trim. The problem is that they are insanely brittle and hard to find unbroken. I've found cars in the junkyard with good ones but can't seem to remove the driver's side without cracking it.

What I ended up doing is getting the vent trim from a 940, which will fit length-wise, and dremeling the rounded edge parts. This does 2 things: it trims the width to fit the 740 dash and it gives it almost the same square look of the 740 vents.

They are a lot easier to get out and the plastic doesn't get so brittle in the sun.


The shifter plastic is easy however. You can usually find a car with an unbroken one in the junkyard.

Try these guys...Voluparts@Mindspring.com...they usually have anything I need altho a little expensive...just wanted $15 each for 740 hubcaps which I declined.
