This is a nice looking wagon, but $10700, get real.
The seller claims only 42K miles but in his own pictures is a 100K badge on the grove box. I sent a notice to EBAY but have seen no changes.
Maybe if some others flagged the listing. At the bottom of the listing is a link to file a complaint.

$10K????
pretty amusing set of pics and commentary:
I got this wagon for free...needing smog help though!
I bought this Cherry color Volvo 240 for $75.00 The owner said that there was a fuel problem.
I bought a 89 volvo 240 today for $50.00

Comparing cost ..when I think on it ...10K may not be that bad.
My logic.
I paid 3500.00 for my 92 245 about 3 years back ..can't recall the mileage (it is now 245K). It ran great, but there were issues with the suspension and a headliner that needed to be dealt with. Also it had been wrecked on the drivers front fender ...repaired well, but still seen by the discerning eye.
The headliner is fixed ...the suspension still needs dealing with ...there are other things that need to be done ...things that the prior owner and yours truly did not/have not done.
So if I added the cost of the 92 and all that I would spend to bring it up to snuff ...I have no doubt that I would spend close to the cost of the 77, and I would still have a car not as desirable as the 77.
Makes me want to buy the car. :)

I used the 'ask seller a question' feature to ask them about the 5-digit odometer and the 100K mile badge (forgot to mention that the odo wasn't original equipment).
All I got in return was two responses from different people, both generic and canned. One, however, mentioned that the car was priced at $19,900, presumably the reserve on the auction?
First response:
"Hi John,
I just took it out for a spin and what a blast! The clutch is excellent. Feels super tight and a great car that is so not available anymore. They cannot build them like this any more. Basic maintenance(oil/grease) and gas is all you need.
.
You tell me."
Second response:
"Dear Unavailable,
Thank you for your inquiry about the 1977 Volvo 245. This vehicle is still available and is priced at $ 19,900.00
At Exotic Classics, we are committed to exceeding the expectations of our customers, and I will do everything possible to ensure that you are completely satisfied. We know that buying a new vehicle is an important decision, and we are committed to helping you make the right choice.

I did get a reply from the seller about the ODO. He said the original owner put the 100K badge on to show that the car is capable of going over 100K. Right, sounds fishy to me. Still, 142K is not that much for a well maintained Volvo. Not a $10000 1977 car though.

Yeah, I got a belated 3rd reply to my eBay question, stating as much:
"John
This car comes to us from a major Volvo collector. The car has just 42K miles, he put the sticker on feeling that someone who purchases the car would like it once it passes 100K
The car is here for inspection, and you can certainly tell by the condition that is has just 42K
I hope this suffices you.
Please contact Lenny @ 516 762 4200 or lenny@exoticclassics.com with any further questions.
Thank you."
I guess it's within the realm of possibility that the R-Sport odometer was rolled forward to match the OEM odometer when the swap was made.
In either case, more money than I'm willing to pay for it.

This car is very clean and nice.It was discussed either here or on Turbobricks.Someone on one of these forums went to see it.The place has many exotic cars, all high price cars. They also had/have I think a 1800es,mint.If I remember correctly there was also a feeling of shadeyness to this place. The car belonged to a collector, blah, blah. The car although in good condition if I recall does not have all of the original paint. It also looks like none of the options were original to the car. They may be period correct but absent of an original window sticker showing the car was purchased this way I say all that stuff was added later.E-code headlights?

First, this same car came up a while ago and it was established that the mileage is accurate, although I don't recall how. The badge is not saying that car has those miles though.
Second, 10,700 is the current of nine bids, "reserve Not met" so they actually want more for it.
I want $4 billion for my 93 940T, and it is none of your business whether someone is willing to pay for it.

Verified, How? Oh, its been 42K since the gauge cluster was put in, that's how.
|

Yes, the rally cluster. We had this chat before and no one that I recall explained how the speedometer was registering 20 mph on such a perfectionist's vehicle while oil pressure and tachometer read zero.

Yes, it's a miracle... ;>
I don't recall as I said, but there was something that came up about it that seemed to establish it was actual mileage.

I agree great looking 77, but aren't those the ugliest wheels Volvo ever made?
|
|
-
|
I recall standing in the local Volvo dealers showroom in 1974 looking at a rack of those wheels in the parts department. I thought they looked great then, and I still do. Twenty years later I found a set, refinished them, and put them on a 1973 164E five speed I owned at the time. Looked even better! Too bad they are only 14 inch. Way - way - stronger than the flimsy Virgos, which I also like except for the fact that they all bend, and the drop center is on the wrong damn edge....
