Proper anteena type for a '59 duett? 444-544

Hello Newsgroupers,
Anyone know if there is a proper location for the antenna on a'59 duett? Searching the internet I found at least three (3) installation locations (see photos below). Perhaps it really doesn't matter but I thought I should get your feed back.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
Jersey Jim

I've given this some thought as well but personally don't like the look of antennas at all. I know this isn't stock but doesn anyone have any experience with or knowledge of concealed antennas?

    Thank you.

The dual side mount looks great but must be sealed well and maintained, I had a Duett that had been set up that way originally and found that water had been seeping down into that frame pocket for years ( RUST). I have since preferred mounting antennas out on the fender wing near the hood seam where water leak is less of an issue.

As far as I know, the radios were not installed at the factory, but were dealer installed items. And being done by many different mechanics in many different dealerships, they all just tended to vary.

Thanks John Mc.. That would explain why the installations I see online vary all of the place.

I think the same is true with the outside rear view mirrors. Some on the fenders, some on the doors, some on the window frames, some with none at all (and no holes where they once were).

            Hello,

We have an old Volvo repair manual, Part 14 labeled "ACCESSORIES" dated August 1955.

In the manual, there are insturctions for the 2 preferred locations for an antenna.

Bear in mind the instructions are for a 444 and 445 Volvos, the first location is in front of the windshield, directly in front of the chrome trim in the middle of the window.

You would have drill holes in the roof just above the windshield and in the cowl below the windshield.

The alternate and more preferred mounting is on the passenger side of the car along the cowl area behind the front fender but in front of the door.

The antenna is the dual side mount style like the old VW's used.

I found a picture of the style at Amazon.com at the following address:
