trunk won't open!!??!! S90-V90 1997

1997 960......the trunk will not open- a minor conundrum of sorts,
although I did retrieve the mom-in-law's handbag- whew-EE!

All the doors locks are working via key and dash switch.
It feels as though the handle outside the trunk has failed...it wont pull enough per say to open up!
Is there a way to open the trunk inside via the back seat hatch and get after fixing it??

Any reply will be greatly appreciated!!!

Mikey

Sorry I can't help you with your question about accessing the trunk from the back seat but, I barely avoided your situation when the trunk handle in my S90 suddenly would barely unlatch the trunk. Once open, I found that the fixing screws for the latch assembly - big Torx bolts - were very loose.

Tightening them solved it, and later I removed them and gave them a light coating of Loctite as preventive maintenance.

So when you get your trunk open, have a look at those screws.

Does your back seat fold down?

If you reach into the trunk through the pass thru opening you can unlock a fold down seat and get into the trunk.

Chances are that there is something stuck in the latch such as a strap or something.

I also think that you can remove the hasp that holds the trunk closed.
